I didn't really notice it until more recently, but space art lately seems to have become more of an exercise in technical expertise and obsession with details than anything else. I myself had fallen into the trap of creating ever larger files, somehow thinking that if my planet textures were so huge that I could zoom in and see people walking around that that would mean I was a good artist. I focused on the details and as a result my work suffered.
Details are important, and they can push a piece from being great to being awesome, but we always have to remember not to lose sight of the big picture. Looking back on my gallery, it's pretty cle
